About Fifty One percent 51% of the total population above 30 in Sri Lanka have been administered with at least the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, according to data released. As of now nearly 15 per cent of the country’s population above the age 30 has received the 2nd dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Sri Lanka is one of the leading developing countries in the world in implementing the vaccination Programme against COVID-19.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has instructed the health sector official to vaccinate all the people aged over 30 in the Western Province before July 31st. So far, 84% of the people in this age category in Colombo, 85% in Gampaha and 80% in Kalutara Districts have been given the first dose of vaccine.

President Gotabaya Rajapaksa emphasized the need to inoculate a higher percentage of people in all parts of the country before September in a systematic manner following the receipt of vaccines that have been ordered.
