India Announces AYUSH Scholarships for Sri Lankan Students for 2026–27

The High Commission of India in Colombo has announced the opening of applications for the AYUSH Scholarship Scheme for the 2026–27 academic year, offering Sri Lankan nationals opportunities to pursue higher education in traditional Indian medicine and wellness disciplines.

The scholarships, awarded under the Government of India’s AYUSH programme, cover courses from undergraduate to doctoral levels in fields including Ayurveda, Unani, Homeopathy, Siddha, and Yoga.

Under the scheme, students can apply for undergraduate to PhD programmes in Ayurveda and Unani, while Homeopathy and Siddha are available for undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Yoga programmes include B.Sc, BA (Yoga Shastra), MSc, and PhD options.

Eligibility criteria vary by course. Applicants seeking admission to undergraduate programmes in Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homeopathy must have completed G.C.E. Advanced Level examinations with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology. Those applying for undergraduate Yoga programmes must have completed Advanced Level studies in any stream.

For postgraduate studies in Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homeopathy, candidates must hold a relevant undergraduate degree recognised by the Central Council of Indian Medicine. Applicants for doctoral programmes in Ayurveda and Unani are required to possess both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees recognised by the same body. Meanwhile, MSc and PhD programmes in Yoga require a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree respectively in any discipline.

The scholarships fully cover tuition fees and provide a monthly allowance for living expenses throughout the course duration. In addition, recipients will receive accommodation support and an annual grant.

Applications must be submitted online via the ICCR A2A portal on or before 15 May 2026. Interested candidates can obtain further details by contacting the Education Wing of the High Commission of India in Colombo.
