DSI Launches 24th SUPERSPORT Schools Volleyball Championship
DSI has officially announced the 24th edition of the DSI SUPERSPORT Schools Volleyball Championship, marking the continuation of one of the country’s most prominent school-level sporting events.
The announcement was made at a media briefing held at Grand Maitland Hotel, with the participation of key stakeholders in Sri Lanka’s volleyball ecosystem.
Organised in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation and the Schools’ Volleyball Association, the championship has been a cornerstone of school volleyball development since its inception in 1999. The tournament aims to provide equal opportunities for young athletes from both rural and urban schools, serving as a platform to showcase talent and progress to higher levels of competition.
Over the years, the championship has hosted nearly 200 teams and contributed to the development of around 400 players. For 2026, organisers expect participation to rise significantly, with approximately 3,500 teams set to compete nationwide.
Speaking at the launch, Managing Director of D. Samson & Sons (Pvt) Ltd, Thusitha Rajapaksa, highlighted the tournament’s role in nurturing young talent and strengthening the future of volleyball in Sri Lanka. He noted the brand’s continued commitment to supporting grassroots sports and creating opportunities for school athletes to develop their skills.
The competition will feature multiple age categories for both boys and girls, including under-11, under-13, under-15, under-17, and under-19 divisions.
District-level matches are scheduled to take place on weekends from 10 June to 10 August, followed by national-level matches from 1 to 5 October and 15 to 19 October. The championship finals will be held on 14 and 15 November.
Applications for participation are available at DSI showrooms across the country and can also be accessed online via the official volleyball portal.
Completed applications must be submitted to the respective Zonal Education Director (Sports) on or before 20 May 2026. For further information, applicants may contact the Sri Lanka Volleyball Federation or designated district coordinators.
