Air Quality index, an increase in pollution levels in some areas

According to the IQAir Quality Index that measures Air pollution, Gampaha has recorded 152 and Kandy 153 today (13) as at 9am. 100 – 150 in the AQI is termed ” Unhealthy for sensitive groups “.

Dr Anil Jasinghe, Secretary, Ministry of Environment requests children & elderly individuals with respiratory & heart diseases to wear a face mask during outdoor activities. Dr. Anil Jasinghe points out that people at risk would be safe if they stay indoors as much as possible.

“At this time, it would be good if the elderly, small children, heart patients and lung patients are restricted from going out of their homes as much as possible.” Dr. Anil Jasinghe said.
