Sri Lanka’s inflation increased to 15.1% in February 2022 from 14.2% in January 2022.

Sri Lanka’s consumer price inflation hit a record high of double digit 15.1 percent in February month under the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI).

The month on month change was contributed by increases of Food items by 0.46% and Non Food items by 0.59% respectively. Accordingly, within the Food category, prominent increases were observed in prices of rice, fresh fruit, Dhal, milk powder and Red Onions. Further, prices of items in the Non-Food category recorded increases mainly due to price increases observed in the Transport (Petrol, Diesel, Bus fare), Clothing and Footwear, Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and other fuel and Restaurant and Hotels subcategories during the month.
