Uninterrupted power supply from January

Chairman of the Electricity Board CEB Nalinda Ilangakoon says that a formal program will be prepared for uninterrupted power supply.

“In view of the current economic crisis, all necessary activities will be taken to provide uninterrupted power supply” CEB Chairman Nalinda Ilangakoon.

For this various methods are used for this. For now coal-fired Norochchole power plant add 900 MW of capacity to the national grid. For this, a number of 33 to 38 coal ships are expected per year.

Meanwhile, Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera pledged to take all possible measures to ensure uninterrupted power supply by January next year. The Minister further said that it is impossible to do that without revising the electricity charges. He said that uninterrupted supply of power and fuel cannot be ensured without revising prices.
