In a recent announcement, the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) reported a significant increase in the country’s Official Reserve Assets, reaching USD 4.4 billion in December 2023. This marks a notable rise of 23.2% from the previous month, where the reserves stood at USD 3.57 billion in November 2023.

In November 2022, Sri Lanka’s foreign reserves dropped to USD 1.58 billion. When the Rajapaksa government took office in November 2019, country’s foreign reserves were approximately US$ 7.5 billion.
