Sri Lanka to re-open primary schools from October 25 after keeping them closed for 175 days due to the lockdown and travel restrictions imposed to contain the spread of the coronavirus. The schools were shut April 27 when Sri Lanka found that 3rd COVID cluster has emerged.

According to the Sri Lanka’s Education Ministry Secretary, Primary Sections of all schools islandwide will re-open on October 25.

Teachers and principals unions say they will report to work from October 25.

All provincial governors decided to reopen Primary Section of schools under preview of Provincial Council with students below 200 on October 21.
