For the 7th consecutive day, Sri Lanka records over 800 COVID cases. Today Sri Lanka reported 891 coronavirus cases. This caseload is the highest daily cases after 3 months. Test positivity rate is also increasing and the 7-day average is 10.6%. According to the health officials, omicron variant is now becoming the dominant variant that causes most COVID cases in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka has reported 603,654 COVID-19 cases out of which 576,540 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, bringing down the active patient count to over 11,784. A total of 15,330 deaths have been reported from the virus.
