Sri Lanka government announces massive Rs. 229 billion rupees relief package to the people.
Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa says that all government employees and pensioners to receive a Rs. 5000 monthly allowance from January month.

Government employees to receive a Rs. 5000 monthly allowance from January month.
Pensioners to receive a Rs. 5000 monthly allowance.
Samurdhi recipients to receive a Rs. 1,000 additional monthly allowance.
All disable soldiers will receive an additional allowance of Rs. 5000 from January month.
All essential food items and medicines to be exempted from all taxes. (Dhal, Sugar, Big Onions and Potatoes)
Farmers will be paid an additional Rs. 25 for each kilogram of paddy
15kgs of wheat flour at the price of Rs. 80 per kg per month will be provided to each household in the plantation sector.
