In a significant development for the academic community, President Ranil Wickremesinghe has officially appointed Prof. Monte Cassim as the Chancellor of the prestigious University of Moratuwa. Earlier He was the Vice-Chancellor of the Ritsumeikan Trust and from April 2004 until January 2010 was President of Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Beppu, Japan where he remains Professor.
