Update – Ministry of Power and Energy says that the power supply will disrupt to several parts of the country between 6 pm to 9.30 pm for a few days daily.

Expect short terms peak hours power cuts

Ceylon Electricity Board says possible short terms power cuts several areas in Sri Lanka during next few days till 3 plants at Norochcholai power plant becomes fully operational.

State Minister Duminda Dissanayake says that all power plants except for Norochcholai have been restored. At least two more days will take to energize the Norochcholai plant.

Ceylon Electricity Board General Manager says disruption in power supply is suspected to be an act of sabotage by the Engineers Union.

According to the Ministry of Power, Sri Lanka is currently experiencing an island-wide power failure. Measures have been taken to restore the power soon. Island wide power failure is due to breakdown in the transmission line from Kotmale to Biyagama.

Electricity will be fully restore island-wide at least another 3 hours as power supply balancing is a challenging task.

On November 29th, A breakdown in electricity supply experienced in several parts of the country due to a breakdown in the transmission line from Kotmale to Biyagama.

Sudden power cut reports several parts of Sri Lanka including Colombo, Gampaha, Jaffna, Kegalle and Kalutara. It is unclear what has caused the exact issue but CEB sources says failure in transmission line is the reason for sudden power cut.

According to the Ministry of Power, Sri Lanka is currently experiencing an island-wide power failure.
