Fairfirst Insurance and National Transport Commission Launch Islandwide Initiative for Women’s Safety in Transit
Colombo, Sri Lanka – 23 April 2025: In a meaningful move to enhance the safety of women using public transport, Fairfirst Insurance has partnered with the National Transport Commission (NTC) to launch a Women’s Safety Awareness Campaign that has reached communities across all nine provinces of Sri Lanka.
As part of this nationwide initiative, Fairfirst Insurance teams, together with NTC representatives, installed specially designed safety stickers in public buses. These stickers display important hotline numbers, providing immediate access to support for women facing distressing or unsafe situations during their commute. This proactive effort aims to reduce harassment incidents and ensure a safer travel experience for women throughout the country.
“This initiative is a true reflection of the FairfirstWay—turning empathy into action and creating real-world impact,” said Sandeep Gopal, CEO of Fairfirst Insurance. “By working with the NTC, we’ve taken a step towards a future where women can travel without fear. It’s a cause we’re proud to support.”
Fairfirst Insurance extends heartfelt thanks to all those who contributed to the success of this impactful campaign. Together, we’ve taken a vital step towards creating safer, more inclusive public transport and making a lasting difference nationwide.
