A leading businessman and friend of Sri Lanka in the Philippines William Chen made a cash donation of US Dollars 20,000 (approx Sri Lanka Rs.4 million) to the Itukama Covid-19 Healthcare and Social Security Fund. The donation was facilitated by the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Philippines Shobini Gunasekera. This contribution will support and strengthen activities aimed at mitigating the spread of COVID-19 as well as related social welfare programmes in Sri Lanka.

The donation which was facilitated by the Sri Lanka Embassy in the Philippines was presented at a ceremony held at the Foreign Ministry in Colombo. Foreign Secretary Admiral Prof. Jayanath Colombage and State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Prof. Channa Jayasumana handed over the donation to Secretary of the Itukama Fund of the Presidential Secretariat Ravindra Wimalaweera. Secretary of the State Ministry Dr.R.M.S.K.Rathnayake was also present.

The donor William Chen participated in the ceremony via Zoom.  State Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana conveyed appreciation to the donor William Chen for his generosity and continuing assistance to Sri Lanka. The donor William Chen assured his continued support.
