The Sri Lanan youth Scrabblers fresh from their recent success at the world youth scrabble championships performed extremely well once again at the inaugural Asian Youth Cup Scrabble tournament held in Gurgaon, India.
Adheesha Dissanayake of Gateway College, who is the current world under 16 champion secured 4th place at the event while Hivin Dilmith of Mahinda College secured 5th place.

Meanwhile Sandali Vithanage of Musaeus College secured the best female player title, repeating her performance at the world youth championships. Archana Padumadasa of Elizabeth Moir College emerged as runner up in the under 16 category.
Due to both the global and local scrabble scene being severely disrupted by covid, For many of the youth players, this was the first time that they had traveled abroad for the event. Even for Adheesha who is already a veteran of 6 world youth championships at just the age of fourteen this was the first physical international tournament since 2019.
