On a request made by the President Ranil Wickremesinghe, the Asian Development Bank ADB has granted Rs. 8 billion to benefit 1.2 million farming families.
Agriculture Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said each family cultivating less than one hectare will receive Rs. 10,000 and above one hectare will receive Rs. 20,000. The money will be deposited into the farmers’ accounts commencing next week.
