497 Indian fishermen arrested by Sri Lanka Navy so far this year

The Sri Lanka Navy says that a total of 497 Indian fishermen have been arrested for violating the country’s maritime boundaries so far this year. 

Accordingly, the Navy Spokesperson, Captain Gayan Wickramasuriya, stated that Indian fishermen who were onboard 66 fishing trawlers have been arrested in this manner.

Captain Wickramasuriya further emphasized that the Sri Lanka Navy is committed to ensuring the local fishermen’s safety and resolving the ongoing fishing issues affecting them.
