Full Statement –

As Muslim Council of Sri Lanka (MCSL) we wish to express our solidarity with the Government and people of New Zealand in the aftermath of the horrific terrorist attack by a person of Sri Lankan origin in Auckland, New Zealand.

We condemn this barbaric act of terrorism and re-iterate that violent extremism is not tolerated under any circumstances whatsoever. We thank the law enforcement authorities and concerned citizens who played an important role in taking decisive action in preventing any further carnage by the terrorist.

Terrorism has no nationality, ethnicity or religion as it was correctly stated by Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Arden. We pray for all the affected persons to recover soon and extend our solidarity with their families, friends and fellow countrymen.
