Sri Lanka’s active COVID patients count is rapidly increasing. Active patients count is now 39,301. For the 4th consecutive day Sri Lanka records over 3000 COVID cases. So far today total 3435 new cases report in Sri Lanka. Today caseload is the highest after May 21.

Highly transmissible Delta variant is spreading rapidly across Sri Lanka and comprise around 75% of the new cases reported in the Western province, according to health experts.

According to Institute for Health Policy IHP data, Sri Lanka’s “Test Positivity Rate” is increasing further. Test positivity (using PCR tests) shows as 17.3% while seven day average shows as 17%. In July first week the rate was about 10%. Seven day average of PCR tests indicate as about 18,000. According to the data reported by the IHP, this is the highest Test Positivity Rate since the pandemic began last March.
