For the 2nd consecutive day, Sri Lanka records over 900 COVID cases. Today Sri Lanka reported 942 coronavirus cases. This caseload is the highest daily cases after 3 months. Test positivity rate is also increasing and the 7-day average is 10.8%. According to the health officials, omicron variant is now becoming the dominant variant that causes most COVID cases in Sri Lanka.

So far more than 275 Omicorn cases detected in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka has reported 607,104 COVID-19 cases out of which 577,030 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, bringing down the active patient count to over 14,705. A total of 15,369 deaths have been reported from the virus.

Over 6000 COVID cases have been reported in Sri Lanka within the last 7 days. Sri Lanka is currently doing about 8000 PCR tests daily.

The omicron variant is overtaking the delta variant as the dominant strain circulating in Sri Lanka.
