Education ministry has declared today December 9 (Friday) as a special holiday for all the public and private schools due to the prevailing bad weather in the country. All Catholic schools will also declare a special holiday today in line with the Government decision.
Due to severe cyclonic storm “Mandous”, cloudy skies will prevail over most parts of the Island. Intermittent showers are expected in the Northern Province with heavy rainfall exceeding 100mm at some places. Strong winds about (60-70) kmph can be expected at times over the Northern, North-Central, Eastern, Uva & Central provinces.
