The shortage of medicines in Sri Lanka will end in two weeks, Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella informed Parliament today.

The Minister said the Ministry has been able to purchase 81 out of 151 medicines which were in shortage by last Thursday.

“The Finance Ministry has given priority to the health sector when it comes to state spending after allocating funds for salaries and pensions,” he said.

“There is no truth in halting of surgeries in state hospital as all emergency surgeries are being carried out while non emergency operations such as hernia operations have been postponed.
