Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act tabled in Parliament for amendments by Foreign Minister.

Sri Lanka President Gotabaya Rajapaksa appointed necessary Committees and the Minister of Justice and the Attorney General have been instructed according to the reports of the Committees to amend the necessary provisions of the Prevention of Terrorism Act.

Last November, The report of the Committee of Officers appointed to review the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act No. 48 of 1979 was presented to President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

The BASL proposes several changes to the Prevention of Terrorism Act including introduction of a provision allowing bail to suspects and accused.
