Sri Lanka Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa arrived in Bologna, Italy, this evening (10th Sep). The Prime Minister and the delegation were welcomed at the Bologna Guglielmo Marconi Airport by Italian officials and officials from the Sri Lankan Embassy in Italy.


Prime Minister Rajapaksa is in Bologna to attend the G20 Interfaith Forum 2021, having accepted an invitation to deliver the keynote address during the Opening Ceremony on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2021. This year’s theme of the Forum is “Peace Among Cultures, Understanding Between Religions.” Other official engagements during the Prime Minister’s visit will include several high-level meetings on the sidelines of the Interfaith Forum.

The Prime Minister is currently scheduled to meet the Prime Minister of Italy Mario Draghi, the President of the European Parliament David Sassoli and the President of Slovenia Borut Pahor.

Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa left the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake this
morning (10) for a diplomatic visit in Italy. Foreign Minister Hon. (Prof) G. L Peiris and Secretary to the Prime Minister Mr. Gamini Senarath also accompanied the Prime Minister.
