A new leisure boat service to cater to local and foreign tourists was launched at the Diyawanna Oya, Battaramulla yesterday (Dec 16).
The Sri Lanka Land Reclamation and Development Corporation started this recreational boat service on the advice of Urban Development and Housing Minister Prasanna Ranatunga, in order to make the country a renowned recreational boating hub.
The boat service is aimed at providing pleasure for people to view the beautiful surrounding areas of the Diyawanna Oya.
The Minister also said there should be an arrangement to encourage and facilitate tourists to stay for longer periods in the country in order to increase Foreign Reserves at a time when the country is facing an economic crisis.
