Finance State Minister Ranjith Siyambalapitiya directed that necessary arrangements be made for the immediate recruitment of the 210 existing vacancies in the Inland Revenue Department (IRD).

While addressing a meeting on October 26 at the Ministry with the members of the Inland Revenue Commissioners’ Association, the Minister advised speeding up the recruitment process for the 66 posts currently approved by the Department of Management Services.

The government’s aim is to provide maximum facilities for the proper running of the IRD, which contributes about 60% to the country’s income, Siyambalapitiya pointed out.

He said attention has also been focused on announcing a specific date for the implementation of the Revenue Administration Management Information System (RAMIS), which is the main step in introducing digitization to strengthen the tax network.
