According to the Department of Meteorology, a slight enhancement of rainy conditions can be expected today and October 21.

According to foreign weather forecasters, a low-pressure area is expected to form over the eastern Bay Of Bengal near the Andaman Sea over the next couple of days. Later it will strengthen to a depression and cyclonic storm. Cyclone will make landfall in India’s Andhra Pradesh, Odisha or West Bengal or Bangladesh early next week.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western and Northern provinces and in Galle and Matara districts. Heavy showers about 100 mm may be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-Western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

Showers or thundershowers will occur elsewhere over the Island during the afternoon or night.

Strong winds about (40-45) kmph can be expected at times over the western slopes of the Central hills and in Southern province.

  

General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
