Journalist Rahul Samantha Hettiarachchi says that former parliamentarian Duminda Silva, who was called to his phone while reporting on a sand mining incident in the Ambalantota area, ask to stop his reporting.
Phone conversation audio is circulating in Social Media. Rahul Samantha says that when he inquired about this phone number, it was confirmed that it belonged to Duminda Silva.
Digital Media Movement says “Duminda Silva’s threat to journalist Rahul Samntha is a threat to Media Freedom”.
Meanwhile issuing a statement, Free Media Movement urges the government to look into the matter immediately.
