Due to non availability of fuel, Ceylon Electricity Board CEB requested for extended power cuts for 5 hours and 15 minutes for areas P,Q,R,S,T,U,V,W and 4 hours and 40 minutes for A,B,C areas approved by PUCSL for February 28.

At the moment several power plants have shut down due to lack of fuel. Water levels of several hydro power reservoirs are decreasing and it will not be possible to generate hydro power electricity in its maximum capacity.
The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka urges consumers and institutions to use electricity sparingly during this period and support the Ceylon Electricity Board and PUCSL.
