Department of Meteorology says the wind speed can be increased up to (50-60) kmph at times over the island particularly in the western slope of central hills, Northern, North-Central ,North-Western, Southern and Western provinces. Cyclonic Storm Gulab in the North side of Bay of Bengal will landfall India’s AndhraPradesh and Odisha coast Sunday night.

Wind speed can be increased up to (60- 70) kmph in the sea area extending from Beruwala to Pottuvil via Galle and Hambantota. The sea area extending from Beruwala to Pottuvil via Galle and Hambantota will be very rough at times. Naval and fishing communities and those who are living in coastal areas are requested to be vigilant in this regards.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Northwestern provinces and in Galle and Matara districts. Heavy showers above 100 mm can be expected at some places in these areas.

Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places elsewhere.

General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
