The Election Commission says that all necessary measures have been taken to face any possible disaster situations that might occur due to unexpected weather conditions during the presidential election.
The Chairman of the Election Commission R.M.A.L. Rathnayake said that more attention has been paid to the districts where there are concerns about potential disaster situations or emergencies.
He further stated that starting from tomorrow (20), they will also receive a weather report from the Meteorological Department every three hours.
Meanwhile, the Disaster Management Centre (DMC) and the Election Commission have planned to implement a special joint program to address any disruptions to the presidential election that could be cause by natural disasters.
Accordingly, the Director of the Disaster Management Centre, Pradeep Kodippili mentioned that the program is planned to be implemented from today until September 22.
