The Education Ministry has decided to increase the allowances paid to examiners and those engaged in examination duties in the next two to three weeks.

Addressing an event organized at the Temple Trees last evening to award letters of appointment to Graduate Teachers in the Western Province, Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said a committee will be appointed in this regard and a report called for.

The allowances of examiners and those engaged in examination duties will be based on this report, the Minister added. 

At the ceremony, the Minister highlighted that at least 19,000 examiners are needed for the answer sheet evaluation process of the GCE Advanced Level (A/L) examination and at least 25,000 examiners for the 2024 GCE Ordinary Level (O/L) examination, which is scheduled to be held in May.
