A female doctor who was working at the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital has committed suicide at her home in Pilimathalawa area, reports Mawbima newspaper. The deceased is a 54-year-old mother of two children.
Kadugannawa police said that the doctor’s body was found in a room of the house at around 12.30 pm on December 3. At the time of the incident, the doctor’s son was sleeping in another room of the house and the husband had gone out to see the daughter who was away from home.
The police also say that the doctor has been engaged in treatment in the OPD of the Peradeniya Hospital. The police are investigating further whether this is a suicide or a crime.
