Sri Lanka to begin the vaccinate all the students and people aged below 30 soon as ongoing vaccination program of above 30 age is nearing complete. According to COVID19 Vaccine rollout tracking, over 96% of the total population above age 30 in Sri Lanka have been administered with at least the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. According to the stats, Sri Lanka’s over 30 population is 11.5 million. So far about 11 million first doses of the coronavirus vaccines have been administered in Sri Lanka.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa emphasized the need to vaccinate a higher percentage of people in all parts of the country before September.
Recently, Sri Lanka President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has instructed the health sector officials to start the vaccinate all the students and people aged below 30 once completed the ongoing vaccination program of above 30 age. President gave these instructions at a meeting held at the Presidential Secretariat with the Special Committee on COVID-19 Control on the vaccination drive and future operations.
Meanwhile, Sri Lankan government is considering to vaccinate school students with Pfizer COVID Vaccine aged 12 – 18 says State Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana. Recently, an educational expert committee has given green light to vaccinate students between age 12-18 with Pfizer and Moderna jabs.
According to COVID19 Vaccine rollout tracking, over 96% of the total population above age 30 in Sri Lanka have been administered with at least the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Sri Lanka is reaching 11 million milestone for Covid-19 vaccination drive. So far over 10.9 million (10,986,524) first doses of the coronavirus vaccines have been administered in Sri Lanka.
As of now about 25% of the country’s population above the age 30 has received the 2nd dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Over 2.7 million second doses of the coronavirus vaccines have been administered in Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka so far received over 19.5 million vaccines. The highest number of vaccines per day of 515,830 administered on July 29 and Sri Lanka administered 513,820 doses of COVID vaccines July 30.
