The Director General of Health Services confirmed that 214 deaths occurred on August 26 due to the COVID. This is the highest single-day confirmed deaths in Sri Lanka.

According to Institute for Health Policy IHP data, Sri Lanka’s “Test Positivity Rate” seven day average shows as 28.5%. This is the highest Test Positivity Rate since the pandemic began last March.

According to Epidemiology Unit data, 4591 new COVID-19 cases were reported on August 20. Today caseload is the second highest recorded since the pandemic began.

Sri Lanka’s active COVID patients count passed 55,000 mark. According to the data reported by the Epidemiology Unit, active cases count shows as 55,399.
