Update – According to police spokesman, 5 more suspects arrested over the sexual exploitation and rape of a 15-year old girl in Mount Lavinia area including a gem businessman and a Captain of a ship. So far 32 suspects including the main suspect have been arrested for selling a 15-year old girl for sexual activities through the internet and Social Media. Police says investigations are going on to arrest 16 more suspects.
According to police spokesman, so far 21 suspects including the main suspect have been arrested over the sexual exploitation and rape of a 15-year old girl. Earlier, Police have arrested a man in Mount Lavinia for selling a 15-year old girl for sexual activities through the internet and Social Media.
Police yesterday (June 30) arrested Mihintalawa Pradeshiya Sabha deputy chairman. Police handed over the investigations to Child and Women Bureau. According to Police SDIG Ajith Rohana, arrested 32 suspects include main suspect, girl’s mother, a three-wheeler driver, a car driver, a monk, a gem businessman, Mihintala Pradeshiya Sabha vice chairman, Captain of a ship, Maldivian national, website owner, hotel manager and the person who has designed the advertising and the owner of website.
Arrested Mihintale Pradeshiya Sabha deputy chairman, remanded until July 15.
