COLOMBO, Sri Lanka — “Kawanthissa,” regarded as one of Sri Lanka’s largest living tuskers, received treatment for the third consecutive day on Saturday (Sept. 26) for an injury to his front right leg.
The treatment was carried out under the direction of Dr. Isuru Hewakottage of the Nikaweratiya Veterinary Unit, with assistance from wildlife officers.
Antibiotics were administered to the tusker near Siyambalangamuwa Tank, where he was located in a forested area.
