Sri Lanka Government has spent Rs.7947 million to provide welfare for the residents of the Colombo District during the COVID-19 pandemic, Colombo District Secretary Pradeep Yasarathna says.
This includes providing Rs.5000, and Rs.2000 payments on four occasions that cost Rs.5336 million, and Rs.258 million respectively, he said.


Rs.803 million has been spent to supply quota of essential food rations each worth of Rs.10000 to 80370 families who underwent quarantine during one and half years. In addition, Rs.1550 million has been spent to provide packs of essential commodities each worth of Rs.5000 to 33461 families weekly who were confined to isolated areas on different occasions.

The District Secretary further said that the Government has spent a large amount of money for the welfare of the residents in the Colombo district following they were affected by the COVID- 19 pandemic.
