The departure of relevant staff for duties related to the 2024 Presidential Election and the transporting of ballot papers and ballot boxes has now commenced.
The Chairman of the Elections Commission of Sri Lanka, R.M.A.L. Rathnayake stated that the distribution of ballot boxes began at 7.00 a.m. today (20) under heavy police protection.
The relevant officials are expected to reach their respective polling centers by around 12 noon today.
Meanwhile, it has been planned to conduct rehearsals today (20) after the officials reach their polling stations.
Voting for the 2024 Presidential Election will be held from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. tomorrow (21).
A total of 17, 140,354 voters are expected to cast their votes at 13,421 polling centers across the island.
