Sri Lanka Police, together with the Special Task Force (STF), the Army and the Navy, have arrested 1,135 more suspects within the 24-hour window ending at 12:30 a.m. today (07 Jan.).
Accordingly, 16 of the arrestees were sent to rehabilitation centres, while 46 of them have been detained under Detention Orders.
The arrests were made during the ongoing island-wide anti-drug operation ‘Yukthiya’.
According to the Ministry of Public Security, 56kg 100g of heroin, 189kg 600g of crystal methamphetamine (‘Ice’), 2,024 narcotic pills, 05kg 900g of Cannabis and 2,420 cannabis plants were seized during this period.
