Malnutrition among Sri Lankan children under five years of age has increased during the years 2021 and 2022, Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella told Parliament today (Jan 05).

Minister Rambukwella said one of the major reasons for the increase of malnutrition is the unethical promotion of certain food and the attraction of the parents towards food that are promoted.

“Health habits of children and reduction of people’s purchasing power has also led to an increase in malnutrition,” he said.

The minister ensured that the supply of triposha will be stabilized soon.
