Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Russia Prof. Janitha A. Liyanage, visited the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotridnichestvo) and held a meeting with its Head Yevgeny Alexandrovich Primakov.
The two sides discussed the matters of educational, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries and on the scope of increasing Russian Government scholarships to Sri Lankan students, opening of Russian cultural and language centers in Sri Lanka and other initiatives, which contributes to strengthening ties between the two countries.
The Head of Rossotridnichestvo pointed out that Universities, have commended the performances and diligence of the Sri Lankan students enrolled and stated that Russia is willing to assist Sri Lanka in providing higher education to its citizens.
Ambassador Prof. Liyanage, expressed her appreciation of Russia’s support and highlighted that this initiative is instrumental to the strategic development of the country.
