The guidelines, given by Brigadier Dilupa Banadara, Commander, 231 Brigade of the 23 Division enabled 11 (V) Sri Lanka Sinha Regiment (SLSR) troops to donate dry rations to 116 needy families, resident in Sinnawatta area in Batticaloa recently.
The sponsorship was provided by overseas-based Mr Suranga Pushpakumara and a group of Sri Lankans working abroad, following coordination done by the 231 Brigade Commander after the miserable poor living condition of those people was brought to the attention of those donors.
Each relief pack, consisted of rice, dhal, soya meat, flour, cereals, spices, dried fish, etc, worth Rs 6000/= was delivered to their doorstep by the troops after selecting the deserving beneficiaries.
Major M.W.M Udayakumara, Commanding Officer 11 (V) SLSR, Officers and Other Ranks attended the distribution programme, together with the 231 Brigade Commander.
