Sri Lanka’s COVID death toll passed the 12,000 mark with 84 COVID19 deaths confirmed. According to the Director General of Health Services these deaths had taken place September 17 and the total number of fatalities in Sri Lanka increased to 12,022. 

Sri Lanka records the lowest single-day coronavirus deaths after 43 days as only 84 COVID related deaths reported. About 2620 coronavirus related deaths have been reported in Sri Lanka during September 1 to September 18.

For the 7th consecutive day, Sri Lanka records less than 150 COVID related deaths.

Among the dead majority were males. Out of the 12,022 deaths, over 6730 are male while over 5270 are females.

The majority of the deaths are of the people in the over 60 years of age group. 76.04% percent deaths are above age 60 years group. 22.84 percent are 30-59 and 1.12% are below the age of 30.
