Everything is ready to reopen schools in Sri Lanka says Education Ministry Secretary. All provincial governors decided to reopen Primary Section of schools under preview of Provincial Council with students below 200 on October 21. Government is planning to re-open schools under four stages. About 3000 schools will be reopened for students from Grade 1 to 5 under the first stage.

Officials say necessary arrangements have been made to start schools with health guidelines and maintain schools in a hygienic manner.

Meanwhile, Teachers and Principals Trade Unions say they will launch a strike on October 21 and 22. Teachers and principals unions say they will report to work from October 25.

Sri Lanka Health Minister Dr. Keheliya Rambukwella earlier said that attention is being paid to start vaccinating children between the ages of 12-18 as soon as possible.
