Ceylon Electricity Board to impose 3 hour power cuts between 8.30am and 5.30pm on March 1 for all groups.
30 minute unscheduled power shedding may take place, if necessary at night peak hours, to manage excess demand. Consumers urged to reduce consumption between 6pm-10pm.

At the moment several power plants have shut down due to lack of fuel. Water levels of several hydro power reservoirs are decreasing and it will not be possible to generate hydro power electricity in its maximum capacity.
The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka urges consumers and institutions to use electricity sparingly during this period and support the Ceylon Electricity Board and PUCSL.
