Cabinet has decided to terminate the implementation of the ‘Special Interest Scheme for Fixed Deposits of Senior Citizens’ with immediate effect.
Accordingly, the operating instructions on the ‘Special Interest Scheme on Fixed Deposits for Senior Citizens’ dated 24.02.2022 are hereby revoked and you are informed to refrain from opening and renewing accounts under this scheme with effect from 01.10.2022.
Termination of the ‘Special Interest Scheme on Fixed Deposits for Senior Citizens’
As informed by the Secretary to the Treasury (Acting) addressed to the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka by letter dated 29.09.2022 on the above, the Cabinet of Ministers at the meeting held on 22.09.2022 has decided to terminate the implementation of the ‘Special Interest Scheme for Fixed Deposits of Senior Citizens’ with immediate effect.
Accordingly, the operating instructions on the ‘Special Interest Scheme on Fixed Deposits for Senior Citizens’ dated 24.02.2022 are hereby revoked and you are informed to refrain from opening and renewing accounts under this scheme with effect from 01.10.2022.
Further, you are requested to inform the respective account holders on the above.
