Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere after 2.00 p.m. Fairly heavy showers above 75 mm may occur at some places in the Sabaragamuwa, Central, and Northwestern provinces and in Mannar district.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Southern province and in Kaluthara district.

A few showers are likely in the Northern and Eastern provinces during the morning too.

National Building Research Organization NBRO issued landslides alert 1, 2 and 3 for several districts due to prevailing rainy condition. NBRO issued landslides alert for Colombo, Kalutara, Kandy, Kurunegala , Kegalle, Matale, Nuwara Eliya and Ratnapura due to prevailing rains.

NBRO issued landslides RED alert for Mawathagama and Polgahawela, Deraniyagala, Dehiowita, Mawanella, Warakapola, Ruwanwella, Kegalle, Galigamuwa, Yatiyanthota, Aranayake, Bulathkohupitiya and Rambukkana, Ududumbara Divisional Secretariat Division(s) (DSD) and surrounding areas.

A Considerable rainfall has been occurred in most of Upstream catchment areas of Deduru Oya Basin. In addition to that, The Deduru Oya reservoir which is maintained by the Irrigation Department is spilling with a discharge rate of 19,200 cubic feet /sec currently. Depending on the upcoming rainfall, the spilling discharge may have to be increased. By analyzing this situation there is a possibility of occurring a considerable flood situation in lowline areas of Deduru Oya valley situated in Wariyapola, Nikaweratiya, Mahawa, Kobeigane, Bingiriya, Pallama, Chilaw, Arachchikattuwa and Rasnayakapura D/S Divisions within next few hours up to 24 hours. It is requested to pay high attention in this regards by the residents in those areas and vehicle drivers running through those areas. Disaster Management Authorities are requested to take adequate precautions in this regards.

Owing to the rainfall situation occurred in Maha Oya River Basin within last 24 hours, the river water levels at the upstream areas have been risen considerably. Therefore, there is a considerable probability of occurring a Minor Flood in lowline areas in the river basin specially in Marandagolla, Nalla, Diwuldeniya and Welihinda villages in Giriulla DS division areas within next few hours. There is a threat of inundating Negombo Kurunegala road closed to Giriulla town. In addition, there is a possibility of occurring a Minor Flood situation in lowline areas of the Maha Oya River Basin situated in Alawwa, Mirigama, Pannala, Wennappuwa, Negombo, Katana and Dankotuwa DS divisions. The public living these areas and vehicle drivers running through these areas are requested to be highly vigilant in these regards. Disaster Management Authorities are requested to take suitable actions in these regards.

General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
