COVID Death Toll rises as 155 more deaths confirmed August 12

155 deaths reported due to COVID-19 within 24-hours, stated the Department of Government Information. The Director General of Health Services confirmed that 155 deaths occurred on August 12 due to the COVID. This is the second highest single-day confirmed deaths in Sri Lanka.

Among the dead are 85 males and 70 females. The majority of the deaths numbering 111 is of the people in the 60 years and above age group. There were 3 deaths below 30 years age.

According to the data reported by the Government Information Department, the total deaths due to Covid-19 since the pandemic began last March has now risen to 5775.
