The head of the worldwide Dawoodi Bohra community, His Holiness. Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin arrived in Colombo on 30 November 2022 for a four-day visit which comprised of socio-cultural activities, a sermon and marriage ceremonies. Around 1000 delegates gathered from overseas to participate in the programmes in Colombo.


The local event coordinator of the Bohra community, Mufaddal Adamjee said, “We’re honoured to host His Holiness, his delegation and other guests who have arrived in the city. We are grateful to the government for facilitating all arrangements to make this event successful.” His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin delivered a sermon at Husainy Masjid (Bambalapitiya) on Saturday, 3rd December, during which he highlighted that his predecessors had visited Sri Lanka numerous times and that it is the gracious hospitality and love of Sri Lanka that has
brought him to visit the island yet again. In his counsel to the community, he advised them to remain peaceful, loyal and law-abiding citizens while continuing their contribution towards the progress and development of Sri Lanka.


On December 1st, His Holiness met with His Excellency President Ranil Wickremasinghe at the President’s official residence. During the meeting, they discussed the historical bond and friendship between Sri Lanka and the leaders of the Dawoodi Bohra community. His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin prayed for the growth of Sri Lanka and that the country strengthen its agricultural sector to become self-sufficient while also becoming an exporting nation of its excess agricultural produce and grains to the rest of the world.
